LIFE SPAN: 15-20 Years
ADULT SIZE: 18-30 Inches
VIVARIUM SIZE: Babies can be housed in a 24 x 15 x 15 inch vivarium. Adults need a minimum of 36 x 18 x 18 inch vivarium.
TEMP: A basking spot of 90-100f should be provided through the day with an ambient temp of 80-85f. The vivarium should not drop below 65f at night.
Like the monitor lizard it is not proven that the blue tongue skink needs U.V but with them been a diurnal reptile we give ours 12-14 hours of U.V lighting.
FEEDING: Blue tongues eat both plant matter and meat such as curly kale, romaine lettuce, bokchoy, collard greens mustard greens, strawberries, melon, kiwi and raspberries.
Also Live food such as locusts, crickets, meal worms and wax worms. Other items of protein include pinkies, fuzzies and you can try them with cooked chicken, turkey and minced beef. A multi vitamin supplement should be supplied.
There are a lot of sub species of blue tongues, the most frequent in captivity is the Indonesian.
